Our team has over 40 years of venture capital experience and a long history of investing and managing venture funds. The Managing Members of MK Capital have managed five venture funds and over $400 million of capital in the past twelve years. Each member of the MK Capital team has previously been an entrepreneur and manager. As a result, each team member has substantial operating experience and a proven track record of helping small business grow successfully. We have advised dozens of companies as board members in a variety of economic cycles, industries, and stages of development. Each team member plays an active role both in the Fund's investment activities and in assisting portfolio companies.

Bret Maxwell

Bret co-founded MK Capital. Prior to founding MK Capital, he was employed by First Analysis beginning in 1982 where he was the second investment professional and where he founded the venture capital practice in 1985. He was the Managing General Partner of a series of venture capital funds including the Productivity Funds (I to IV).

Since 1985 Bret has personally led over 40 investments in industries including telecommunication products and services, environmental services, information security and business services. Bret continues to focus on Technology-Enabled Business Services companies.

He also serves on the Board of Mt. Sinai Hospital of Chicago and on the Investment Subcommittee and the Finance Committee of the Jewish United Fund of Chicago.

He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and was a co-founder and second Chairperson of the Illinois Venture Capital Association (IVCA).

Education
Bret received his M.B.A. from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and his B.S.I.E. in Engineering from Northwestern University.
